triplet falls
The river’s eddy
swept me into
its swirling pocket.
I folded myself small
not to disturb the current.
Still,
ripples spilled around me.
I vanished deeper
into the whorl.
You met me—
toppling cascade
a plunge of laughter.
I loosen th spin
that had felt like home.
Unfolding—
I join
the tumble
of the falls.
Easing,
to a quiet pool.
Buoyant silence.
The redwoods lean close.
Wind through branches—
a bygone song.
A widening sanctuary.
Secret spring.
We move around each other—
river silk.
Light gathers—
mirth of luminosity.
