self-remembering, sensitive, sisu

Self-remembering, Sensitive (delicate/tender) and Sisu are the words that come to me after reading Inward. (Sisu is the Finnish soul or art of courage, resilience, grit. Rooted in the word for “inner” or “inside”, it represents the ability to push through extreme challenges and take action against all odds when it seems impossible to continue.)

Erin lets us in on a very private, embodied journey to the depths of the underworld and back. In doing so she offers language, comfort, meaning and a close companion to those of us who are experiencing the descent — a place that, although sempiternal, can feel utterly lonely.

Inward is a rare treasure of the personal and archetypal forming a mandorla. The gift Erin gives by sharing her inner world and way of inner work, where somatic non-conscious is allowed to communicate through the language of symbols and dreams and now through this book, touches a place of self-remembering, my own inner whisper.

In addition to the poetry I loved the introduction and authors note which brought the book full circle and made the reading experience even more intimate. Thank you for the beautiful, soul nourishing language.
